Technetium 99 Generators : Ultra Technekow™ FM

The Ultra-TechnekowTM Generator from SIRTeX is prepared with fission-produced molybdenum Mo-99 adsorbed onto alumina in a column shielded by lead, tungsten, or depleted uranium.

This terminally sterilized generator provides a closed system for the production of sterile metastable technetium Tc-99m, which is produced by the decay of molybdenum Mo-99.

MYOVIEW™ from GE Healthcare, a kit for the Preparation of Technetium Tc99m Tetrofosmin Injection is indicated for myocardial perfusion imaging under rest and/or exercise or pharmacologic stress conditions to delineate regions of reversible myocardial ischemia or infarcted myocardium in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease. MYOVIEW is also indicated for the assessment of left ventricular function (left ventricular ejection fraction and wall motion) in patients with known or suspected heart disease.

SIR-Spheres® Y-90 resin microspheres

SIR-Spheres® Y-90 resin microspheres from SIRTeX are a medical device used in selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT).

The microspheres are extremely small resin beads, approximately 32 microns in diameter, about a third of the width of a human hair. They have a density similar to that of blood cells which allows them to travel easily within the bloodstream. Y-90 resin microspheres contain the radioactive element yttrium-90, which delivers radiation over a relatively short distance in human tissue. SIR-Spheres® Y-90 resin microspheres work from the inside, targeting radiation to the tumors.
